Our Mission
Mission Statement
- Strong Families for a Strong Community
Statements
of Belief
Community Options
- A Society for Children and Families holds the following beliefs,
which guide the Principles, Outcomes, Indicators, and Activities
of the Organization:
- The Well-being
of a child is dependent not only upon care provided by his/her
family, but also upon the support and service of the community.
Community Options - A Society for Children and Families recognizes
its responsibility to children and families. With parent and community
involvement, the Society ensures that its programs are responding
to families' and children's needs.
- Children's
programs should provide experiences which foster each child's
growth and development as a total human being. This implies attention
to the enhancement of skills in all areas of development -social,
physical, intellectual, creative and emotional. Programs must
create an environment where friendships are facilitated, and each
child learns concepts of him/herself and others and establishes
wholesome patterns for feeling and behaving.
- All of the
Society's programs must be flexible to meet the unique set of
circumstances involved in meeting each child's and family's needs.
Principles
of Operation
- With Respect
to the Mission of the Society, three target populations shall
be served:
- Children;
- Their
Families and/or Caregivers; and,
- The Community
- Children
have the right to quality care and services.
- Families
have the right to options for quality care and services for their
children and themselves.
- Families
have the right to support.
- Families
have the right to make informed decisions about quality care and
services for their children.
- Families
are self-defined.
- Community
Options - A Society for Children and Families sets the highest
standards for its own operations, and acts as a "lighthouse"
for programs for young children and families.
