THE LEADERSHIP TEAM
Margaret is an ongoing advocate about the need for inclusive, high quality early learning and care. Her dedication to and love for families have been the cornerstones of a career that spans more than 35 years. Margaret has worked in a variety of capacities over the years. She has been a front-line worker for childcare and out-of-school programs; an aide to children with disabilities; is a certified kindergarten teacher; and has an extensive background in administration and consultation. Margaret has provided advocacy for children through her involvement in a variety organizations such as: the Child and Family Resource Association, the Alberta Child Care Network, and the Early Childhood Professional Association of Alberta. In 1997, she conducted research that examined accreditation of childcare centres in Alberta as a Muttart Fellow. Margaret has a Bachelor of Education degree, an Early Childhood Diploma and a Master’s degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Alberta.
Community Preschool Education
Marjorie Cooper has worked in the Early Childhood field supporting children and families in different inclusive settings for over 48 years. As a leader she values communicating, working as a team player and enabling her staff to be the best that they can be. Marjorie also believes in giving back to the community and volunteers at different community events, is a member of the Kinette Club of Edmonton and is on the board of 124th Street Drop-In Association. In her spare time, she loves spending time with her family and taking trips to the mountains for some peaceful relaxation.
Edmonton Northwest Preschool & Out of School Care Director
Andre always knew he wanted to work with children. After attending College, he was fortunate to work at a non-profit childcare centre in his home province of Newfoundland. It dedicated to families who needed the extra help. He learned quickly that parents & the direct caregivers of children are the most influential people in their child’s life. Andre joined Community Options’ Out of School Care and Preschool 14 years ago, after moving to Alberta. He feels fortunate to work for an organization that recognizes that early childhood education will have a positive impact on the emotional and cognitive growth of children.
Kathy has worked in childcare for over 40 years. She is passionate about building relationships with children and families. She is a lifelong learner, keep abreast of the latest developmental research. She loves sharing her knowledge with the staff at the Early Learning Childcare Center, as well as the adult Early Childhood Educators she teaches at CDI College.
CPE Assistant Program Director
Catharine joined Community Options in 2010 and worked in various positions within the organization before becoming Assistant Director. As a parent of four children, three of which have diagnosed learning disorders, Catharine understands what it takes to support families through their journey in securing help for their children. She feels blessed to be part of an organization that is passionate about ensuring that children have the opportunity to learn, grow and be successful by accessing professional intervention in their early years.
Family Liaison Assistant
Ryanna is a recent graduate from the University of Alberta in the Human Ecology program. She has worked for Community Options for 4 years as our Family Liaison Assistant. She values helping families in the community and believes in working together. Ryanna likes to cook nutritious meals, spend time with her family, and travel to new places in her spare time.

Lori von Kalben
Human Resources Coordinator
Lori von Kalben has been working with Community Options since August of 2016. She brings with her a background in social work and over 15 years of experience in Human Resource Management within various industries and specifically over 13 years in the not for profit sector. She is passionate about working for an organization that gives back to the community and feels fortunate to be surrounded by people with such great team spirit! In her spare time, Lori enjoys spending time with her amazing family, exploring the outdoors and new experiences with her husband and daughter.
Volunteer & Community Engagement Coordinator
Hayley has worked in the non-profit sector for over 15 years, with a passion for volunteer management, community engagement, event planning, fundraising and capacity building. Being involved and giving back to the community is important to Hayley, as she serves on the Inglewood Community Board as their Director of Programs & Social Events. In her spare time, Hayley enjoys spending time with her son Henry and partner Max and can be found rescuing the neighborhood strays when she's not snuggling her own two fur-babies, Chesney & Norris
Special Events Coordinator
Heidi Brett has been working with Community Options since October 2009. She works as an Occupational Therapist Assistant as well as an Event Coordinator. Heidi is passionate about working with children and families to support them on achieving their goals in a fun positive way. Her other interests include spending time in the outdoors – hiking, biking, running, skiing, snowshoeing, and spending time with her amazing children and grandson.
Caitlin has been working with Community Options since January 2016. She works as a Coordinating Teacher as well as a Communication Strategist. She has a passion for early childhood education and supporting children and families in an inclusive setting, as well as community engagement, event planning, fundraising and giving back to the Community. Caitlin enjoys spending her spare time with her amazing family, friends and fur babies, creating, cooking and exploring the outdoors- camping, hiking, kayaking, skiing, swimming, and running.
